BEST SELLERS: FAMILIES & BABY BOOMERS LEAD TICKET SALES

Still on the subject of entertainment – John Farnham, Daryl Braithwaite & James Rayne along with Carl Barron and the Royal Easter Show topped the Ticketmaster Awards for best selling events across live entertainment in Australia.

The annual awards acknowledge the best-loved and best-selling Australian events across music, comedy, sport, theatre and family categories in the last twelve months.

Sydney Royal Easter Show was crowned with the overall ‘Best-selling event’ award. Now in its 195th year, it is Australia’s largest annual ticketed-for event attracting 850,000 people each year.

Annual regional travelling event the Red Hot Summer Tour had an all-star line-up led by John Farnham along with James Reyne, Daryl Braithwaite, Ross Wilson, Shannon Noll and ’90s alt-rock band Taxiride. The festival was held in Mannum, Mornington, Ballarat, Port Macquarie, Bribie Island, Dubbo and Kiama.

A second line up featured Icehouse, James Reyne, Daryl Braithwaite, Shannon Noll, Dragon and Pseudo Echo and they played at Mulwala, Mt Gambier, Launceston (sold out), Batemans Bay, Hunter Valley, Jacobs Well and Bendigo –  offering up a total of 14 shows across nearly four months.

The Red Hot Summer Tour has been bringing Aussie legends to regional stages for over a decade.
