EXHIBITIONS, INCLUDING THE AGE, ARE BACK AT ICC SYDNEY

Last week the International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney received advice from the New South Wales Department of Health that it can proceed with hosting exhibitions, subject to one person per four square metres of space and no capacity limit.

The update is much-welcomed by the Gaming Technologies Association (GTA), organiser of the Australasian Gaming Expo (AGE), whom earlier this year had no option but to reschedule the 31st AGE due to the government restrictions introduced to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

As a member of the Exhibition and Events Association of Australasia (EEAA), GTA has been involved with the development of the EEAA Safe Operating Framework to ensure the safe delivery and operation of events. The Framework outlines the procedures to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 from move-in and build, arrival and registrations, operational days and bump-out.

“Our number one priority is the health, safety and well-being of our exhibitors, visitors, delegates, contractors and venue staff”, said Chris Muir, CEO of GTA.

While our industry still faces huge barriers before we can return to business as usual, this announcement is a significant advancement for the AGE, scheduled to return to ICC Sydney from 10-13 August 2021.

“I hope this news will help to boost confidence and create momentum for our sector”, said Muir, “GTA looks forward to welcoming our industry back to ICC Sydney for an extraordinary 31st AGE.”
