SIZE MATTERS

Food challenges aren’t new – but in the right market, they can attract a lot of publicity and social media interest.

Melbourne pub, The Duke has unleashed a monster pie for the footy finals. Weighing in at a whopping 4kg, it’s the biggest pie in Melbourne.

“The Duke is one of Melbourne’s favourite places to catch the AFL outside of the MCG, so it’s only fitting that we’ve raised the stakes with the ultimate footy food for the whole crew,” said venue manager Ben Anderson.

Called ‘The Game Changer’ the monster pie will feed up to six people and costs $75, but if you can conquer it on your own – it’s yours for free.

Not to be outdone, Club York in Sydney’s CBD have created a beast of a burger called “The Big Unit” as part of the Sydney Good Food Month celebrations.  Chef Gene Arkoudis from the Clubs Zabou Bar & Grill has been attracting quite a following for his burgers, which leading food bloggers are claiming as some of the best in the city. Gene has dished up a combination of three of Zabou’s most popular burgers – the Dirty Bird, In-Fidel & the Pulled Porky – all in one massive “frankenburger” creation.

The Big Unit costs $30 and comes with fries and a shake. If you can finish the lot you’ll receive a $50 club voucher and your photo on the wall of fame.
