THE BEST BEER, WINE AND COCKTAIL APPS FOR F&B MANAGERS

When it comes to apps there are millions available to download and it can be difficult to work out which ones are worth it. Here is a narrowed down list of the best beer, wine and cocktail apps that you can use at work. Some will give you the details about beers for customers, some are learning apps you can use to build up your wine knowledge as a budding sommelier, others are just a handy list of cocktail recipes so you don’t have to remember them all.

Vivino (Wine)

Vivino is a wine app that scans wine labels and provides details about that wine such as user and expert ratings, price, features, and the nearest store where you can buy it or purchase and order directly on your phone. This app is a personal wine guide for newbies and connoisseurs alike. It is considered the best wine label-scanning application for smartphone, and certainly the one with the largest worldwide community, claiming over 34 million users to date and to be ‘the largest wine library in the world‘.

The app also includes a wealth of information about wine regions, wine & food pairings, and grape varieties.

Now Tapped (Beer)

Looking for a great craft brew for your bar? Now Tapped is an Australian app dedicated to great craft brews. It includes a list of venues who currently have craft beers on tap, but also allows venues to upload what’s available in craft beer on tap at your bar and share it with customers through Twitter and Facebook.

Mixology (Cocktails)

Mixology is one of the most well-known cocktail apps worldwide, and has been going for almost 10 years, so it has one of the largest libraries of cocktails (7,900 of them) available. Mixology also has recipes for non-alcoholic cocktails, (the latest trend) and hot drinks and an easy filtering field which makes it easy to look up cocktail recipes by category. You can save favorite recipes and also create and store your own recipes.

Decanter Know your Wine (Wine)

Decanter’s Know Your Wine provides a way to learn about wine, a tool for budding sommeliers, those facing wine exams or anyone who would like to enjoy confident wine knowledge. This is not a quiz app; it’s all about learning and remembering the myriad of information around wine. Decanter Know Your Wine is a micro-learning app. It uses spacing to deliver learning in highly efficient short lessons.

Cocktail Flow

Cocktail Flow features beautifully presented cocktail recipes with step by step guides and is packed with features you’ll love whether you’re a novice bartender or a professional mixologist.
