THE DROP TEST DRIVES AINSWORTH’S NSW ‘RISE UP’ GAME RANGE
Ainsworth: Rise Up
In September Ainsworth released Born Free-Rise Up and Wizards Wand-Rise Up to NSW and QLD and market performance results are booming. The work break we all had from March – June enabled Ainsworth to tweak the maths on what were already potentially strong games with additions that have improved the balance between the base game and the feature. The reaction from players has been immediate and with a third game African Wonders-Rise Up due for release soon, strong performance results should continue.
With a range of flexible payment terms available clubs have a reason to update their Ainsworth machines using current gaming cashflow rather than capex commitments
AGT launched their stylish new A-Star® machine in March but timing has meant that for most clubs and their players, the machine, and the range of fresh games is new to the market. The players are reacting very positively to the new games with 7 of Ainsworth’s games currently above the average MAX denom turnover ratio of 1.0. That ratio is getting tougher to achieve with less machines in the market than it was 6 months ago, and their new Born Free-Rise Up and Wizards Wand-Rise Up are at MAX 1.8 and MAX 1.62!
Denomination:
The Rise Up game range are multi-denomination games that are player selectable in 1c, 2c, 5c and 10c. They will have strong appeal at the higher denomination choices with the traditional medium – high tier female players that have long favoured Ainsworth product. The lower denomination choices, and the appealing colour and art themes will be popular among lower tier regular players. Strong themes (African animals, wizards, jungle theme) will appeal to male players.
Unique Games:
All three of the games in the Rise Up game range offer slightly different game play and a second feature:
Born Free – Rise Up awards six free games with any 3 or more ‘diamonds’ with an extra 2 free games awarded for any 2 or more ‘diamonds’. Additional ‘wilds’ are added in the free game.
Wizards Wand – Rise Up awards 6 free games where the royals are removed from the reels in each free game leaving only higher paying symbols
African Wonders – Rise Up (not released yet) adds a 2 x multiplier to each ‘wild’ symbol

Game Feature:
The common component of all games in the range including Born Free-Rise Up and Wizards Wand-Rise Up is the multi-ladder “Rise Up” feature. The Rise Up feature occurs when six or more ‘Arrows’ appear during the main game or as a retrigger in the feature. Each of the ‘arrows’ has a multiplier, and the sum of the multipliers on each reel will multiply the credit amounts on the reel ladder.
The Rise Up feature then awards 3 free spins. ‘During the free spins, additional ‘arrows’ and ‘bonus arrows’ award an extra free spin. The sum of arrows on the reel lifts the player up the ladder. For example, two arrows on reel 1 will lift the player two levels up the ladder above that reel, continuing as they win until they reach the maximum level.
Once all the free games are completed all the credit prizes that have been won on the ladders are added together as the players feature credit win. This is a common feature prize concept in today’s gaming market but has been delivered in an interesting way for the players in the Rise Up games.
To win one of the jackpots a player must reach the top level of the centre prize ladder and achieve a golden arrow on the reels which randomly awards either the Major or Grand Jackpot
SAP Profile:
The jackpots in this game can be awarded during game play as well as in the feature. With a good range of jackpot levels and bonus prizes that are scalable to the players bet levels the jackpots will appeal to a wide range of players. In NSW the Major and Grand prizes are set at $5000 and $7500 with an additional $10,000 jackpot available for QLD.
Volatility:
All the Rise Up games have different math models to maintain player interest but the volatility in the game is provided by the Rise Up feature with a strong proportion of the overall game percentage in this part of the game. The excitement for the player is in getting into the Rise Up feature with strong wins available as players progress through the levels. Prize levels are scalable to the players bet so stronger players achieve appropriate prizes.
In the feature the game guarantees the player that at least 5 prizes are awarded, so every player is a winner once they achieve feature play. Statistically the average win in the feature is 46 times the credits bet.
Floor Position:
This game is colourful and will have great floor appeal and as a game targeted to mid-high tier players a highly visible mid floor position would be perfect for this game range. Visually it has the appeal of a link product even though it is a SAP, with a well-presented high top jackpot. Banking up the product will see jackpot shopper’s preference the games with the higher jackpot levels as they always have with Ainsworth games so performance levels will shift each month. It would work equally well in both smoking and non-smoking areas.
Performance:
With good numbers of games already in the market in both QLD and NSW, Ainsworth’s Rise Up games have been showing strong early performance results. With only top performing games remaining on the gaming floor in both markets competition is tight, but with flexible purchase terms for venues and strong performance results upgrading Ainsworth product to these new games looks positive.
