HOSPITALITY CONCIERGE DELIVERS ON-THE-GROUND SUPPORT
Liquor & Gaming NSW’s Hospitality Concierge has visited 15 venues across the Southern Tablelands, working directly with hospitality operators and industry stakeholders to support a safe, vibrant and responsible hospitality sector.
Covering 762 kilometres in three days, the Hospitality Concierge team visited venues and hospitality businesses across Sutton Forest, Marulan, Yass, Binalong, Murrumbateman and Bungendore, engaging with operators on matters including licensing, compliance, live entertainment and training, such as the Responsible Conduct of Gambling.
The team also met with representatives from Yass Valley Council and local tourism stakeholders to discuss community events, festivals and opportunities to support local economic activity.
Among the highlights of the visit were several historic venues that have been at the heart of their communities for generations, including:
- The Lake George Hotel in Bungendore, established in 1838 and believed to be one of Australia’s oldest continuously licensed hotels,
- The Terminus Hotel in Marulan, established in 1868, and
- The Sutton Forest Inn, established in 1938.
Liquor & Gaming NSW Director Regulatory Excellence Melanie Brown said regional and remote hospitality venues play a vital role in supporting local communities, tourism and economic activity.
“Liquor & Gaming NSW is committed to ensuring hospitality operators have access to the information, guidance and support they need to operate safely, responsibly and successfully.
“Meeting operators face-to-face helps us better understand local challenges, answer questions directly and provide practical advice on licensing, compliance and business opportunities.
“It was a privilege to visit some of the region’s most historic venues, many of which have welcomed locals and visitors for generations.
“These venues are at the heart of their communities, bringing people together and contributing to the unique character of regional NSW.”
