LIQUOR & GAMING NSW – COMPLIANCE CAMPAIGN
Liquor and Gaming NSW have announced a compliance campaign designed to check staff knowledge of their key gaming harm minimisation responsibilities. The below is their notice outlining their focus for the campaign.
Gambling harm minimisation compliance campaign
Empowerment, awareness, and confidence to take action
Throughout March and early April 2026, Liquor & Gaming NSW (L&GNSW) inspectors will be visiting venues to talk directly with staff who work in gaming areas. These conversations, usually 5-10 minutes, are designed to check your understanding of key gambling harm minimisation (GHM) responsibilities and how your knowledge helps keep patrons safe.
What does this mean for me?
Inspectors may ask you about:
- how self-exclusion works in your venue
- how you prevent minors from entering gaming areas
- where your mandatory signage is displayed
- rules around inducements and promotions
- how and when to record incidents
- your venue’s Gaming Plan of Management (GPOM).
Why this compliance campaign matters
As a Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG) competency card holder, you play a crucial role in identifying and responding to gambling related harm. Understanding your obligations ensures you can:
- recognise signs that a patron may need support
- respond safely and appropriately
- uphold industry and legal requirements
- contribute to a safer venue environment.
Your actions make a real difference to patrons, colleagues, and the broader community.
If you see something, say something
If you ever notice practices in your venue that don’t align with GHM requirements, such as missing signage, unsafe behaviour, or concerns about how incidents are handled, you are encouraged to speak up.
You can report concerns anonymously via the L&GNSW online portal. Your insights help us identify risks and support harm reduction across NSW.
