POKIES SUPER TAX FOR NSW CLUBS?

2GB’s MARK LEVY takes aim at NSW Premier Chris Minns over the potential announcement of a surprise super gaming tax to be imposed on clubs.

According to Levy, the Premier and Treasurer committed to the deal without involving the Minister for Gaming and Racing — leaving community clubs searching for answers.

Mark Levy speculated that they were talking about a super poker machine tax, currently at 37%, and he had been told it could go as high as 60%.

Mookey is arguing that it will bring clubs in line but pubs which are privately owned. Community clubs are owned by the members and are not for profit.

It has been suggested that the government spin will be: a way to fund harm minimisation programs for domestic violence, and to help people with gambling problems and alcoholism.

Mark Levy suggested that the discussions haven’t gone to cabinet yet.
