$8 BOTTLE OF DRY WHITE WINS RIVERINA WINE SHOW

A $7.99 white wine from Aldi has snagged the top place at a leading Australian wine show.

At the prestigious Riverina Wine Show, the inexpensive drop of Margaret River SBS took first place for Best Dry White.

There were other wins for the supermarket giant as well, with 16 gongs being handed out to various Aldi wines — two of which were priced at just $4.99.

Another first place was awarded to the Blackstone Paddock Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 for the Best Red Wine of the Show — priced at an affordable $17.99.

Wine Buying Director at Aldi Australia, Jason Bowyer, commented on the win saying, “These awards complement what consumers have voted on with Aldi winning ‘Best Liquor Retailer’ in this years’ Canstar Awards, and we are beyond thrilled and excited by every prestigious award win and recognition our drops continue to receive.”

He added, “So whether you prefer a refreshing bubbly, white or rose, or a deep, rich red — the one thing we can all agree on is that shoppers will get top shelf value for the lowest prices possible when purchasing wine at Aldi.”

The German supermarket chain has a reputation for award-winning wines, having just picked up double gold for a $4.99 Australian sparkling a few months ago, at the Melbourne International Wine Competition. The South Point Estate Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir NV is made in South East Australia, and is one of just two sparkling wines to take home a double gold medal at the prestigious awards.
