ACMA BLOCKS MORE ILLEGAL GAMBLING SITES

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has ordered internet service providers to block a new group of offshore gambling websites operating illegally under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. The latest crackdown targets Crown Gold, Maxispin Casino, Rain.gg, Didibet, LuckyBet, Malina Casino, and Spins of Glory.

Since the initiative began in November 2019, authorities have restricted access to 1,338 illegal gambling and affiliate sites, while about 220 unlicensed operators have voluntarily exited the Australian market following tighter rules introduced in 2017.

During the second quarter, ACMA assessed 292 out of 330 complaints and enquiries, launching 20 investigations into 24 sites. The regulator issued 10 formal warnings and found 73 operators in breach of gambling laws. ACMA reminded consumers that unlicensed sites lack essential safeguards, leaving players vulnerable to financial loss.
