CHANGING LIVES, ONE PAW AT A TIME
What began as a modest Brisbane luncheon with just 100 guests, driven by the vision of Everi National Director, Craig Harley, has grown exponentially into one of Australia’s premier hospitality charity events.

The 13th consecutive Smart Pups Fundraising Luncheon was recently held at Brisbane’s famed Paddo Tavern, drawing the who’s who of the Australian hospitality industry.
Attendees experienced firsthand the impact of their contributions, as Smart Pups once again showcased the profound difference their work makes in the lives of children with special needs.
The 2025 luncheon featured an unforgettable lineup:
- Dawn Fraser AC MBE, beloved Patron of Smart Pups
- Mick Fanning AO, three-time world surfing champion
- Murray Hartin, celebrated Australian bush poet
- Diesel, legendary Australian musician

One of the event’s most touching moments came as Murray Hartin honoured Our Dawn with a heartfelt poem reflecting on her remarkable life and legacy.
The tribute concluded with a moving standing ovation, highlighting the deep respect and admiration she continues to inspire.
Thanks to the generosity of all involved, the event raised an incredible $211,825.
In a remarkable show of support, the Queensland Government, through Attorney General the Hon. Deb Frecklington, added a further $200,000.
This year’s luncheon reaffirmed its reputation not just as a must-attend hospitality industry event, but as a celebration of community, generosity, and life-changing impact.
