SOUTH ADELAIDE GETS A NEW ‘SUPER PUB’ – THE AUSSIE INN

Hackham’s The Aussie Inn has completed its multi-million-dollar refurbishment to reveal a premium 650-person pub with an expansive alfresco terrace and beer garden, set to be the new social destination for South Adelaide.

General Manager of The Aussie Inn, Jackson Rogers, said the relaunch expanded the footprint of the venue with an additional 200 pax and, more importantly, facilitated the creation of zoned areas that welcome locals from all walks of life.

“The pub has been thoughtfully designed with the community in mind. There’s space for local sports clubs to enjoy the game in the sports bar, for friends to gather and share a meal, and for parents to unwind with a drink in hand while keeping an eye on their kids having fun in the playground,” he said.

State Architecture Medal 2024 winner Chris Rowlands from RADS and his team led the redesign of the 1980s pub leaning into the charm of 80’s front bars, while bringing it into the modern era maintaining a sense of hospitality, warmth and community charm. The design makes maximum use of the outdoors with lawn level picnic tables overlooking an epic kids’ playground, leading up to an alfresco dining area situated in lush green surrounds. Come sunset, the area sparkles with festoon lighting and the building’s exterior glows thanks to discreet roof lighting, creating a special ambiance.

Leading indoors, the bistro features a double-sided fireplace and a cosy booth seating area. The menu has a selection of high-quality pub favourites alongside contemporary local dishes such as ‘Chargrilled octopus with warm kipfler potato salad & salsa verde’ and ‘Lemon pepper & sumac crocodile skewers’.

There’s a full ‘Butcher’s Block’ section that pays tribute to local cuts of beef, lamb and kangaroo. There’s even an entire section of the menu dedicated to leveling up the humble schnitzel with a variety of ‘toppers’ such as the ‘Hawaiian: Napoli sauce, ham, pineapple & mozzarella’ and ‘King Avo: Bacon & avocado’.

The expansive sports bar has 16 beers on tap, and features American sport and AFL favourites live and loud year-round with TAB facilities.

The venue is also set to become a destination for local functions and events. With a function capacity of 300, the pub can accommodate corporate, community and social groups of all sizes for end-of-year celebrations and milestone events.

The Aussie Inn is owned and operated by Harvest Hotels, renowned for creating local and regional pub destinations with an unwavering commitment to the surrounding community.
