WE’RE HALFWAY THROUGH 2026: IS YOUR VENUE’S AML PAYOUT PROCESS ACTUALLY READY?

We’re halfway through the year. Most venues have done the work on AML, updated the program, ticked the boxes, and got the frameworks in place.

But the question we keep hearing from gaming managers and compliance staff is this: “We’ve sorted the paperwork side, but how do we know our process actually holds up on the floor?”

It’s the right thing to be asking. And honestly, most venues can’t answer it with confidence yet.

What We’re Still Seeing Across Venues

Venues that moved early on AML reform are now well into implementation, but even still, the gap between a well-designed AML program and consistent on-floor execution remains wide. Plenty of gaming rooms are still running into the same issues, and they usually look something like this:

  • Different staff handle payouts differently depending on who’s on that shift
  • Paper forms are getting rushed, skipped, or filled out inconsistently during a busy run
  • No clear paper trail linking a patron’s identity, which has been verified, to the actual payout
  • Managers with no real visibility into what’s happening on the floor until something goes wrong

None of that means the venue doesn’t care. It usually just means the process hasn’t been set up in a way that’s easy for staff to follow during hectic times. That’s where the risk creeps in.

Having the Plan Is One Thing. Running It Is Another

Most venues have an AML program. That’s not the issue anymore.

The issue is whether it’s actually being followed, on every shift, for every qualifying payout, in a way that would hold up if AUSTRAC came knocking.

If you’re not sure, it’s worth finding out now rather than later.

So, Where Does Your Venue Actually Sit?

We’ve put together a free 2026 Gaming AML Readiness Checklist for gaming managers and compliance staff. It’s a straight-up tool to help you quickly determine whether your current payout process is meeting AUSTRAC’s updated expectations.

Use it to:

  • Benchmark your current payout process against the new AML/CTF requirements
  • Spot the specific gaps that could put your venue at risk
  • See exactly where paper-based or manual processes fall short under the new standard
  • Understand how venues that have already gone digital are keeping on top of compliance day to day

This is a practical, no-fluff tool, not a sales pitch. If your process holds up, you’ll know. If it doesn’t, you’ll know exactly where to focus first.
