WHY MEMBERSHIP SIGNUP AT CLUBS IS FINALLY GOING DIGITAL

For many clubs and pubs, the membership sign-up process hasn’t changed much in decades.

New members complete paper forms at reception, staff manually enter the details into membership systems and issue a plastic card. During busy periods, queues form at the front desk while staff work through applications as quickly as possible – sound familiar?

The process is slow, repetitive and prone to errors. It also creates friction at the very moment venues are trying to welcome new members and build long-term loyalty.

Across the industry, venues are now looking for ways to modernise this experience.

Digital membership sign-up allows guests to join directly from their phone while in venue or online. Instead of filling out paper forms, new members can scan a QR code, enter their details and complete the process in seconds.

This is the concept behind Go Join, one of the new tools developed by hospitality technology company Spoke Technologies. The platform allows venues to digitise the entire membership sign-up process while reducing manual data entry for staff.

Members can join from their own device, complete their details through a mobile-friendly form and receive a digital membership card instantly, which can be stored in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

But the opportunity goes beyond new member sign-ups. For many venues, membership renewals are also a major administrative task, particularly when thousands of memberships expire at the same time.

Go Join allows members to renew their membership online in seconds, while venues can also offer subscription-style memberships with automated renewals and reminders.

The platform supports the different membership structures used across the club industry, including traditional calendar-year memberships, rolling memberships and fixed-term membership periods, allowing venues to modernise the process without changing how their programs operate.

Visitors to the upcoming AHG Expo will be able to see Go Join demonstrated live, along with other tools designed to help clubs and pubs streamline operations and deliver a more modern member experience.
