LILY FIELDS DISTILLING CO. WINS AT 2023 AUSTRALIAN GIN AWARDS

Sydney-based independent gin distillery Lily Fields Distilling Co. has been awarded the prestigious 2023 Australian Gin Awards Trophy for Best in Class, Classic Dry Gin for their Juniper Dry Gin.

Lily Fields was established in Leichhardt in Sydney’s inner west only 9 months ago by husband-and-wife team Jen and Shannon Hunt.

The duo puts their sudden success down to a combination of science and creativity. Before setting up Lily Fields in 2022, Jen worked as a drug development chemist for the pharmaceutical industry while Shannon’s trade is design and construction.

Head Distiller and Co-owner of Lily Fields Distilling Co. Jen Hunt said the pair were honoured and humbled to receive the recognition and are immensely grateful for the support of their customers. “We’re really looking forward to what’s yet to come.”

Hunt said part of the company’s success was its local focus.

Lily Fields sources all its citrus from the local Orange Grove School markets (which is where their daughter went to primary school) and use a Lilyfield pepper tree in their dry gin.

Their unique approach extends to a collaboration with local institution The Bowlo, Leichhardt. The club’s leafy beer garden – which has become one of the inner west’s most popular destinations – is home to Lily Fields Distilling Co.’s cellar door and garden bar.

The partnership combines the joys of gin tasting with the camaraderie of community life.

“The synergy between Lily Fields Distilling Co. and the Leichhardt Bowlo is about local community. It exemplifies the spirit of collaboration,” Hunt said.

“It a unique destination for gin enthusiasts and locals alike”.

“We’re committed to crafting exceptional spirits and serving as a beacon of community spirit in Leichhardt.”

The Australian Gin Awards Trophy win is just the beginning of what promises to be a long and exciting journey for this innovative and passionate distillery.
