WA BANS ALCOHOL ADS ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT

The West Australian government has announced a ban on the advertising of alcohol on public transport.

Transport Minister Rita Saffioti says alcohol advertising on trains and digital billboards has stopped with immediate effect, and it will begin to be phased out from buses in March 2019.

Alcohol advertising accounts for about two per cent of revenue for the Public Transport Authority, which has now negotiated with APN Outdoor to incorporate an alcohol ban into existing contracts as early as practical.
