HOLD THE COFFEE, (BUT NEVER THE KINDNESS)

Last year was the inaugural Youth Off The Streets Cup of Kindness Day where supporting cafes from across Australia were asked to celebrate good coffee and a good cause, and to donate 50c from every cup of coffee sold to the charity. It was held on October 1st, International Coffee Day.

Unfortunately, YOTS have had to make the decision to cancel the 2021 event, due to the uncertainty surrounding the current Covid situation. However, we will definitely be back in 2022, and hope your café or club will join us again, to help change the lives of disadvantaged young Australians.

Cup of Kindness Day 2020 was supported by Hennessy Coffee and ClubsNSW. Without their help it would not have been the success it was, with over 50 cafes, many from clubs both large and small from Queensland, NSW and the ACT, raising over $20,000. We aim to double that participation for 2022.

The 2020 ‘Kindest Café’ Award was taken out by Club Rivers where we planned to launch this year’s event. We will now work with them towards kicking off a massive 2022.

We may have to hold the coffee this year, but everyone needs a sense of connection to someone, or a community. Perhaps now more than ever. And it is kindness, service and care that build that community. So, remember in a world where you can be anything – be kind, whether you have had your coffee or not.
