RESDIARY LAUNCHES INTO AUSTRALIA
Global online booking platform ResDiary has launched independently into Australia with its pioneering no commission fee feature, marking an end to a seven-year exclusive relationship with The Fork (previously Dimmi). Owned by Accor Hotels, ResDiary has appointed a dedicated ANZ team of 16 as part of the launch who will manage sales, customer support, marketing, and growth in the Australian and New Zealand markets.
With the Australian restaurants market size in worth approximately $18.5bn 1, ResDiary is well positioned to disrupt considering its near decade experience providing the backend booking technology for The Fork. The offering will see an online booking platform for hospitality businesses alongside a diner-focused restaurant discovery platform called ‘Dish Cult’.
Rebecca Zeitunian, ResDiary’s Head of Brand and Growth ANZ explains, “ResDiary has been working behind the scenes in Australia’s hospo industry for many years, so we’re poised to support the industry in its recovery phase by offering 0% commission. We know that hospitality venues across Australia have been bleeding financially, and our vision is to grow in a way that helps these businesses get back on their feet by offering a solution that will maximise bookings, secure revenue and provide a platform for marketing and promotions.”
Australia hospitality icons including Trippas White Group, Bondi Icebergs, Ten Minutes by Tractor and The Dolphin are already using the platform, valuing the axing of high commission fees that are commonplace in the market.
Jack Fisher, F&B and Duty Manager at The Balfour Kitchen, Brisbane, part of the Spicer Retreat Balfour Group explains, “Given the current climate is so unpredictable, having 0% commissions on pages, socials, websites, etc from bookings is a huge let off. As a small sized venue, it is very important to us that we are maximising the guests coming to visit. The unstable nature of the dining scene due to the lockdowns has been an interesting challenge and this is just one thing less to keep your mind on.”
Given the extended lockdowns which has made business all the more challenging for food & beverage operators, ResDiary is also currently offering complimentary takeaway and voucher add-ons valued at $70 per month to both current and new customers2 to venues in Victoria, ACT, New South Wales, and South Australia.
