Host Responsibility: Towards a Culture of Care

Twin Towns invites club and gaming industry colleagues to attend a free Gambling Harm Minimisation Conference on Thursday 19 October.

The conference aims to help those working in clubs, especially with gaming machines, to address gambling harm minimisation and create a culture of care.

From board directors and management to staff who work on the front lines of responsible gambling, attendees will be inspired by the expert knowledge and valuable insights provided by this year’s speakers.

The line-up includes Frank Makryllos, Managing Director & CEO – eBET Systems and Co-Founder and Director of Cherry Hub, a digital platform that connects venues with innovative technology solutions. Cherry Hub also introduced the cherrycheck® compliance app, endorsed by ClubsNSW as the leading solution for clubs to assist in meeting the Club Gaming Code of Practice (the Code).

David McAnalen from Gambling Help Services at Relationships Australia (Qld) is also a guest speaker. This former problem gambler, who now has over 20 years of gambling abstinence, is one of three participants in the Qld Department of Justice and Attorney General’s campaign, ‘When gambling took over’. David also works with industry and the community on early intervention.

Tony Azouri, Host Responsibility Executive from Christchurch Casino New Zealand will address the conference via weblink. In his role at Christchurch Casino, Tony has assisted the wider team with organisational change. This included the development of new harm-prevention tools such as real-time alerts, risk-detection algorithms and facial recognition technology.

There will also be panel discussions on the day featuring representatives from ClubSAFE, GambleAware and local clubs.
The free conference at Twin Towns is a great opportunity to meet and network with members of the club community from across the State. It runs from 9am to 3pm (Qld time) and lunch will be served on the day.
