ROCKY RENOS GROW KENO WITH FOOD

Rockhampton Leagues Club has grown its revenue steadily since the completion of renovations in November 2017.

The $3 million revamp began in February and saw a makeover of the bistro and the creation of a new café in an area that was previously used for administration – both of which have contributed to increased sales for the busy regional club.

“On the back of our growth in food trade, we’ve seen growth in our Keno,” General Manager Danny Finch explains.

Finch says visibility and accessibility of Keno were factored into the redesign of both new and existing areas, and this has made all the difference.

The club installed a Keno Touch in the bistro area, along with dedicated Keno paired 55 inch screens for advertising and the draw. There is also a Keno Touch terminal and large screen showing the ball draw in the main lounge. The club has another two Keno Touch terminals and paired 60 inch screens in the gaming area.

“Keno is very visual in both the lounge and bistro areas. It’s all about the member being able to see the game and accessibility for the member to get to those self-service terminals. The biggest thing to think about is utilising them and placing them in the venue where patrons can access them, keeping in mind privacy.”

The club’s cashier area was also upgraded with digital assets for advertising and displaying jackpot pay scales, and has contributed to the venue’s success story along with staff training.

“All staff, whether they are in the bar, bistro or gaming, need to be trained and informed about all aspects of the Keno game in order to be able to sell it,” Finch asserts.
