Dapto Leagues Club opened the award-winning and highly anticipated Tabatinga Family Fun and Social Centre in December 2018. The first of its kind in scale and size in the Illawarra.

Tabatinga is a rainforest themed play space where families can socialise, share a meal and spend quality time together with fun activities in a pleasant, safe and purpose built environment. The area will operate as a pay-for-play centre and will contain different sets of attractions and facilities. Recommended for ages 0 to 12, parents of children must stay in the centre with their children to supervise them at all times. The area is fully enclosed for security and includes a comfortable seating area with cafe service, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi.

Tabatinga will offer a “Drop and Dine” service allowing parents to enjoy the other facilities of the Club while taking comfort in the fact that their children are happy, safe and nearby. Drop and Dine will be run on Friday and Saturday nights operating as a closed session.

David Hiscox, CEO of Dapto Leagues stated “the Club’s Board of Directors approved the renovation of the Showroom Auditorium into Tabatinga earlier in the year with renovations starting in July as part of the Clubs previous and existing strategic plan. The introduction of Tabatinga identifies and achieves key priorities of the Board and Management including providing a unique and high quality facility to the already existing family market whilst also delivering on our sustainability initiatives.”

When sourcing staff for Tabatinga, Dapto Leagues’ Human Resources department looked “local” to enhance the sense of community that is central to the Club’s Vision by hiring local and further supporting the community. Another considered choice was to employ local children from both Dapto and Kanahooka High Schools, Wollongong High School of Performing Arts, Corpus Christi and local dance studios in junior positions as party hosts who will entertain the children in an array of themed costumes including princess, pirates, jungle ranger and disco.
