G2E IN LAS VEGAS – THE NEXT MAJOR GAMING EXPO TO BE POSTPONED
G2E in Las Vegas joins a list of major gaming industry trade shows and expos that have been postponed due to continued concerns over the coronavirus crisis. The organisers, American Gaming Association and Reed Exhibitions, have announced that in place of the actual event, they will be rolling out a number of virtual G2E events that provide opportunities for education, economic discussions and networking events throughout the wider global industry.
Current conditions that have forced the G2E expo cancellation include not just a concern around a large-scale event in the current climate, but also significant global travel restrictions that will prevent attendees at a physical event.
Importantly for many Australians, attending the G2E virtual events is clearly a cheaper alternative than travelling to Vegas, and may broaden the number of club and casino managers who can jump into the live online events.
Current Nevada state regulations ban public gatherings of 50 people or more and additional guidance for future reopening phases is not yet available. Nevada has also seen a spike of COVID-19 infections.
The cancellation of G2E follows the postponements of other gaming conferences, including the National Indian Gaming Association conference in San Diego, ICE North America in New Orleans, and several sports betting conferences
For Gaming manufacturers and suppliers, the industry wide shutdowns have provided a positive opportunity to further develop and enhance existing products and technology. However, after months of no sales, many manufacturers agreed that they didn’t see the need to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a tradeshow booth and bring employees to Las Vegas during a pandemic.
