HELP2HELP LAUNCHES LATEST AUSTRALIAN INITIATIVE – & HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED

Since 2011 help2help has been providing education, health and humanitarian services to the people of rural Cambodia. Following on from that success, help2help Australia was launched with the view to providing humanitarian support to disadvantaged groups, specifically within the Sydney area. Additionally, help2 help pledged to assist smaller charities who may not receive any form of financial or volunteer support.

Help2help was established seven years ago by Barrington Group CEO Blayne Webb and his family. Many generous clubs, industry suppliers and their staff have supported the charity over the years through sponsorship, donations, fundraising and importantly, hands-on assistance through volunteering.

Help2help Australia was launched only last year and some of their current activities and programs include:

  • Purchase and use of the help2help Food Van to raise income for other activities listed below;
  • Use of the food van to provide breakfasts to disadvantaged schools, meals on wheels and meals for the homeless;
  • Use of the food van to raise money for other charities in Sydney;
  • Provision of financial assistance to smaller charities who cannot access funding or fundraise;
  • Provision of financial assistance to individuals in dire circumstances;
  • Provision of hospitality training and assistance to the unemployed, disabled, indigenous and other disadvantaged groups.

The groups latest initiative will be the opening of Ratha’s Place in St Marys NSW. Named after the person who was the main inspiration for the charity – a little Cambodia boy with a significant disability, and now also the name of the training centre in Cambodia. Ratha’s Place will be a disability café which will form the hub of all the services provided to disadvantaged groups in the Sydney area.

Ratha’s Place is located at 60 Queen Street St Marys and all proceeds from the operation will be used for other projects in the Sydney area (provision of Meals for the Homeless, Meals on Wheels, veteran support and Breakfasts for Disadvantaged Schools etc).

Help2help aim for this to be the first in a chain of cafés under the Ratha’s Place banner.

The entire operation of Ratha’s Place would be managed, not just by those charged with the management of the café but the collective experience of Foundation Sponsor’s Executive Management Team – Barringtons, and their various hospitality training staff and consultants.

Their plan is to create a community-driven café highlighting the ability, not the disability of our staff!
