1. Your name, your club and your position.

Robert McLean, General Manager at  Windsor Country Golf Club

  1. What is your biggest or has been your biggest challenge with the club and your role?

Cultural change; acknowledging at Board and Sub Committee level that the business model the Club has used for 50 years is obsolete, and some “eggs have had to be broken to make a new omelette”

  1. What have been some of your achievements or highlights since being at the club?

The growth of golf and social membership by 30%, trading in profit since the end of 2014 (started August that year) and reduced debt position by $250,000, 75% down.

  1. Is there a piece of advice or something compelling you have learnt that you can pass on to our readers and up and coming managers?

Use your ears more than your mouth! Make sure the members/customers can provide you with feedback about the club and what they want.

  1. Outside of the club and your role there. Do you have any hobbies or passions? Tell us a bit about you.

Golf, soccer, cricket, still trying to play all three at a rapidly maturing age
