SPOTLIGHT ON TRACEY LENTELL

CMAA – Meet Our Members

Meet Tracey Lentell ACCM MAICD, CEO,  Sporties – Moorebank Sports Club

1) What is your biggest or has been your biggest challenge with the club/ area?

One of the challenges I had at the start was taking a “blokey” Club and turning it around so that it suited the demographics and became female and family friendly, which it totally is now.

2) What have been some of your achievements or highlights since being at the club?

Growing a business that has become extremely successful. Financially our revenue over the past 6 years has grown at over 100%, our EBITDA has grown by over 320% and sits at over 26% and our net assets have doubled. Our people practices have been judged and rewarded with a number of awards this year from ClubsNSW, Western Sydney Business Awards and AHRI to name a few. Our people practices have been judged and rewarded with a number of awards this year from ClubsNSW, Western Sydney Business Awards and AHRI to name a few. Our product, we have always strived to provide unique experiences whether it’s through our farmyard playground or our Hamptons-inspired alfresco dining.

3) Is there a piece of advice or something compelling you have learnt that you can pass on to our readers and up and coming managers?

Great CEO’s know that people will determine their companies success and without investing in and focusing on them you won’t create value. A great CEO is also the most visible leader in a company and their engagement makes a huge difference on the culture and the behaviours demonstrated.

4) Outside of the club and your role there. Do you have any hobbies or passions.. tell us a bit about you?

One of my main hobbies is spending time with my 5-year-old son Hunter taking him from golf to Nippers, to surfing and soccer. Most of my time outside of work is dedicated to spoiling him and making sure that he gets every available opportunity in life. I also give back to the local community by being on the committees where he is involved like the Miranda Magpies Soccer Club and Wanda SLSC. Oh and I do like to climb a few mountains here and there like the 100 kilometre Oxfam walk I did a couple of months ago which I can proudly say we completed in 32 hours 36 minutes in a complete team of four of which only 35% of teams managed to do.
