NSW DIGITAL DRIVERS LICENSE COMING IN 2019 – IS YOUR VENUE READY?

Clubs are also advised to see their membership kiosk provider as soon as possible to ensure scanning software is compatible with the new licenses.

Service NSW is introducing the Digital Driver Licence – an electronic version of the NSW Driver Licence available on a smartphone – across NSW in 2019.

The Digital Driver Licence is currently being trialled by venues in Dubbo to ensure the product rolled out in 2019 meets the needs of NSW Driver Licence holders and businesses such as pubs and clubs that need to check licences.

The trial will be extended to Sydney’s Eastern Beaches this month. NSW Driver Licence holders in Bondi, Randwick, Coogee, Waverley and Bondi Junction postcodes will be able to participate in the Eastern Beaches trial and use their Digital Driver Licences at participating venues.

Businesses such as hotels, clubs, bars, restaurants, gaming and racing venues, tobacco sellers, building security and car rental companies are invited to participate in the trial.

Once rolled out, NSW Driver Licence holders will be able to use their smartphone to carry and present their driver licence. This will deliver a more convenient, effective and secure way for people to provide, and for businesses to verify, this type of identification.

For more information and to check if your business is eligible to participate in the trial, visit the Service NSW website.

Clubs are also advised to see their membership kiosk provider as soon as possible to ensure scanning software is compatible with the new licenses.
